Journalling with Art
A relaxed blend of journalling, reflection, and simple art exercises to inspire insight and change.
Understand yourself using more than words
This weekly class combines guided journalling, reflection, and simple creative activities to help you better understand yourself, explore meaningful life themes, and develop practical tools for personal growth and wellbeing.
Each session focuses on a different topic, such as emotions, resilience, self-worth, habits, relationships, or navigating life’s challenges. Through thoughtful journalling prompts and discussion, you’ll have the opportunity to explore your own experiences, uncover new insights, and gain greater clarity about what matters most to you.
The creative component of the class is designed to support learning and self-discovery rather than artistic skill. Depending on the theme, we may create simple diagrams, visual maps, flash cards, painted reminders, or other easy-to-follow creative exercises that help bring ideas to life and make them easier to remember and apply in everyday life.
No artistic experience is required. This is not about creating masterpieces. It’s about using words, colour, symbols, and simple visual tools to deepen understanding, encourage reflection, and support positive change.
Journalling is a powerful practice for developing self-awareness. It allows us to slow down, organise our thoughts, recognise patterns, and gain perspective on the challenges and opportunities we face. Combined with simple creative exercises, it becomes an engaging and enjoyable way to explore new ideas, strengthen emotional resilience, and cultivate greater clarity, confidence, and self-understanding.
Our Classes
Journalling with Art is a weekly class held on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm each week except for public holidays. We usually begin with a gentle check-in, reflecting on any changes or insights participants have noticed since the previous session, and then move into the theme for the evening. I’ll present a concept for the group to explore, but you’re welcome to interpret it in your own way. This is a supportive and encouraging group space, where you can share as much or as little as feels right for you. I take part in the process alongside everyone else, so we journey through the experience together. Use the button below to book your space, or send me a message if you have any questions.
Why Choose Creative Life Studio?
Beginner Friendly
Our classes are beginner-friendly, because we all have to start somewhere. I still remember how daunting it felt to join a new group when I first began, so I make it a priority to create a welcoming and supportive space. Here, you’ll be encouraged to explore, experiment, and enjoy the process as you learn new skills—at your own pace and in good company.
Everything Provided
All tools and materials are provided to make it easy to begin your art adventure. Occasionally, you may be invited to bring an image or a magazine page to add a personal touch to your work. Over time, you’ll also get a feel for which supplies you’d like to buy for your own practice. If you already have a favourite pen or paintbrush, you’re more than welcome to use it in class.
Social Connection
We’re not just here to make art—connection is an important part of our classes too. In the studio, we encourage conversation and sharing, not about politics or religion, but about personal stories and experiences that bring us together and help us feel more connected as people.
